One to Know: Meet Melissa Keller
Meet Melissa Keller! With more than 20 years of nursing experience, including 12 years in long-term care, Melissa brings a strong clinical background and specialized expertise in MDS assessments, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance to Engage Consulting.
As a Clinical Reimbursement Consultant, she works with skilled nursing facilities to navigate complex reimbursement requirements, improve documentation accuracy, and support financial success while maintaining high-quality resident care. We recently sat down with Melissa to learn more about her career journey, what she enjoys most about her work, and how she spends her time outside the office.
How long have you been with Engage Consulting, and how long have you been a nurse?

I’ve been with Engage for 3.5 years. I joined when a facility I was working with outsourced its MDS department to Engage, and I was hired by Engage to continue supporting that facility in my existing role.
What is your current role, and what are your primary responsibilities?
My role at Engage Consulting as a Clinical Reimbursement Consultant is a little different every day. I work with a variety of clients/clinicians from the Outsource team, to MDS management projects and monthly consulting.
What is one part of your work that you find especially rewarding?
The most rewarding part is seeing MDS coordinators grow in their knowledge and confidence, connect the dots, and apply what they’ve learned to achieve accurate, meaningful results for their communities.
What is something you’ve learned during your career that has stuck with you?
A phrase a nurse shared with me early in my career has always stuck with me: “Go ahead and make a plan, but don’t fall in love with it, because it will change and you have to roll with it.” That advice taught me the importance of staying flexible, adapting to change, and being willing to pivot when needed.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Engage team?
What I enjoy most about the Engage team is the genuine sense of support and collaboration. Everyone is willing to share their knowledge, help one another, and do what they can to support the communities we work with.

When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, we love watching sports together, and I love travelling.
Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us, Melissa! We appreciate everything you do to support our clients!
